Role Overview
We are seeking a Service Technician with 5+ years of experience who possesses an analytical mind and a passion for technical troubleshooting. This role is designed for a diagnostic expert who thrives on deconstructing complex mechanical failures and optimizing sophisticated climate systems. You will be the primary lead for service and maintenance, while also serving as a vital bridge to our installation team, providing high-level support and technical commissioning to ensure new residential and commercial systems start perfectly.
Key Responsibilities
- Elite Diagnostics & Repair: Perform expert troubleshooting and repair on a diverse range of equipment, from high-efficiency furnaces and AC units to commercial RTUs and complex, modern cold-climate Heat Pumps.
- Refrigeration Mastery: Execute all 313A/D refrigeration tasks with precision, including leak detection, system evacuation, and component replacement, while ensuring the highest standards of environmental and regulatory compliance.
- System Optimization: Look beyond the immediate repair to analyze overall system performance. Offer proactive recommendations on modern upgrades and sustainable energy solutions to improve efficiency and comfort.
- Hydronic Troubleshooting: Diagnose and maintain premium boiler systems, in-floor heating controls, and snow melt sensors to ensure total home comfort and system longevity.
- Technical Mentorship: Support the professional growth of the Excel team by providing field-level guidance and technical coaching to junior service technicians and apprentices.
- Customer-Centred Consultation: Build trusted partnerships with homeowners and property managers by explaining technical issues clearly and providing professional, honest advice on system health and future-proofing.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safety-first mindset at all times; strictly adhere to TSSA standards, OHSA regulations, and Excel’s internal safety protocols.
Required Qualifications & Licenses
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on HVAC experience.
- Trade License: Valid 313D license is required (313A preferred).
- Gas License: G2 is required (G1 an asset).
- Driver’s License: Valid Class G with a clean record.
- Safety: Current WHMIS, ODP and Working at Heights certifications.

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
