Work Description – Cultivation & Operations Worker

- 35+ Hours / Week Approximately
Cultivation & Operations Worker(s) will play a key role in ensuring the timely cultivation and delivery of our high-quality specialty mushrooms, while assisting to ensure facilities are clean, sanitized and compliant with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follow our Food Safety Plan and bring any non-compliance to the attention of our Facilities / Cultivation Manager;
- Placing inoculated blocks into incubation, monitoring blocks that are incubating and assessing levels of colonization for fruiting preparedness;
- Preparing and placing colonized blocks into fruiting rooms when appropriate;
- Assessing fruiting progression and advising Facilities / Cultivation Manager of any inconsistencies or issues;
- Harvesting matured mushrooms and packaging them according to internal SOPs, labelling boxes, palletizing and preparing orders for delivery, and executing value-add processes when needed (dehydrating and etc.);
- Removing harvested blocks from fruiting rooms and composting them according to SOPs;
- Cleaning / sanitizing of fruiting rooms and racking, packaging room and associated tools / equipment, vehicles, hallways / corridors, walk-in refrigerator and etc.;
- Properly receiving inbound deliveries of materials;
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained within the facility by keeping them free of debris;
- Prevention and control of disease through communication and monitoring inline with our SOPs;
- Assisting with general maintenance duties as required; and
- Any other reasonable duties that would fall in line with the cultivating, processing and distributing of specialty mushrooms.
- Driving 16' delivery truck to Toronto twice per week
Qualifications
- Motivated, positive attitude, and able to effectively work independently and within a team environment;
- Physically fit
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility and flexibility with assigned work;
- Strong work ethic and keen eye for details;
- Willingness to learn; and
- No education or experience with mushrooms required.
- Must have valid G license with clean record, be 25+ years of age, and have experience driving heavy trucks or equipment
