Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Programmer & Electronics Technician. This role focuses on the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of electrical components used in industrial applications, including drilling rigs and customer equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC programming and troubleshooting, remote control systems (such as Cavotec remotes), electric motors, and associated control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- PLC Programming and troubleshooting
- Diagnose, repair, and test Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including fault analysis and component-level troubleshooting
- Inspect and service Cavotec remote control systems and related wireless control equipment
- Perform maintenance and repair on electric motors, including AC/DC motors used in industrial and oilfield applications
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems from drilling rigs and other customer equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Conduct functional testing and quality checks to ensure repaired equipment meets operational standards
- Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and technical documentation
- Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding repair status, findings, and recommendations
- Assist in inventory management for parts and components required for repairs
- Follow all safety protocols and industry standards during repair and testing procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical repair, maintenance, or industrial electronics
- Strong understanding of:
- Industrial control systems
- Motor control and automation systems
- Experience working with VFDs, PLCs, and remote control systems is highly desirable
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Experience in the oil & gas or heavy industrial sector
- Familiarity with rig equipment and related electrical systems
- Knowledge of wireless communication systems and control interfaces
- PLC troubleshooting and programming experience
- Shop-based environment with occasional field service work
- Exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
- May require lifting moderate weights and working with tools/electrical components
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
