Dietary Aide
Mission
Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services/Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide provides support in the setup, preparation, serving, and cleanup associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner
- Assist in the setup and preparation of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
- Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required
- Clean dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each seating, as required
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area
- Assist with catering and actively participate in special occasions and theme events
- Support the orientation and training of new dietary employees
- Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures
- Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures
- Respect and promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities
- Attend in-service training as required to better serve residents’ needs
- Attend staff meetings to stay informed of changes within the Residence
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Program
- Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents)
- Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy, particularly ethics, morality, and integrity, as outlined in Extendicare’s Code of Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate
- Previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors is preferred
- Must possess or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Training Program
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for the majority of the shift
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
- Must provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Pay: From $18.14 per hour

- Hanover, ON N4N 1M9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- food service industry and working with seniors: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Handler Certification (required)
