About the Role

The Junior ETL & Data Developer is responsible for designing and creating the data repositories and all related extraction, transformation and load of data functions within our Publisher team. Furthermore, ETL developers must be experts at taking a big-picture view of strategic alignment between business objectives and technical specifications. The developer needs to be able to read, analyze and digest what a business or client wants to accomplish with its data, and design the best possible ETL process around those goals.

Architect large, complex data sets extracting data from disparate data sources in a secure manner that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
Overhaul and upgrade legacy processes and conversion of VB.NET to C#
Develop and adapt solutions within existing infrastructure and legacy processes
Work with the Publisher, CCM and IT teams to formulate a Publisher data warehouse strategy, framework, standards, and guidelines
Review solution design and ensure that the defined standards and framework are followed
Design data models, ETL mappings and associated objects of analytical solutions, and implement automated workflows using SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Data Warehousing, and specialized business rules written in .NET C#
Prototype ideas, run experiments, and iterate to better design data driven solutions to business and client problems.
Participate in our CI/CD pipeline to develop automated integration and deployment solutions for ETL workflows
Maintaining and creating high performance ETL solutions, including pro-active monitoring and optimization actions of poor performing workflows
Understand and incorporate required security framework in the developed data model and ETL objects.
Work with Business Analysts to ensure that functions and processes meet business or client requirements for project completion.
Work closely with other IT, Publisher and CCM development groups to deliver coordinated software solutions.
Evaluate, determine root cause, and resolve production issues as they relate to ETL workflows
Collaborate with IT Operations to ensure backup and recovery plans are formulated for the data warehouse
Communicate insights and recommend areas for further data platform enhancements.
Delivering superior customer service by utilizing customer service techniques – problem solving, efficient follow-up, identifying new client requirements and escalating to the Director, Client Services & CCM Support where necessary.
Conduct ad-hoc data management or batch job activities
Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain content of the documentation
Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring to the Role:
College Diploma or University degree in computer science or a related field
SQL or ETL industry certification an asset
Skills & Experience

1-2 years of professional software development experience, in either traditional waterfall or Agile environments, including the operational responsibility of maintaining solutions in production environments utilizing VB.NET, C#, and SQL Server, including SSIS and SSRS
1-2 years of ETL development experience, with comprehensive data warehousing exposure to planning, designing, and execution
Deep understanding of Data extraction mechanisms, data warehousing concepts, relational database designs, big data platforms and associated tools.
Experience with Automation platforms is an asset, preferred software (StoneBranch)
Experience with handling complex data sets in a variety of formats, including, but not limited to MS Excel, flat files, XML, and column-width delimited Exposure to enterprise change control and incident management processes
Experience with unstructured data models considered an asset
Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate expectations, accept responsibility of assigned projects and/or requests while communicating status of progress and issues
Self-starter, highly motivated, able to shift directions quickly when priorities change, think through problems to come up with innovative solutions and deliver against tight deadlines.

Working Environment:
We are a rapidly growing, highly entrepreneurial services company. The successful candidate for this role will work from our Brantford office and will be required to travel to client office locations on occasion. The position involves working at a desk, with a computer, for long periods of time, with some walking required in a warehouse environment.

Hours of Work:
InvestorCOM hours of operation are 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Additional hours may periodically be required.
