This is a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) designated role. CIP training is required to be completed annually, as well as a requirement to have a criminal record check completed every 7 years and to pass a personal risk assessment.

Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the System Operator, the Control Center Operator Trainee will perform the following duties related to the operation of the distribution, transmission, network and LRT systems.
Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
Direct customer interaction is an important part of this role therefore must have an understanding of the importance of customer service and be willing to provide it
Must successfully complete the Control Center Operator Trainee program as well as ASO exam.
Relief duties for the Assistant System Operator and System Scheduler and the Network desk upon successful completion of the ASO exam
Trouble Dispatch duties, receiving and entering trouble calls into an Outage Management System and dispatching of crews
Control 3 Desk assisting System Control Centre Operators
Analyze and log system disturbances/interruptions and taking appropriate restoration actions using an Outage Management computer systems and web applications
Provide training for Trouble Dispatch operators
Review and adhere to operating procedures for System Control Centre staff
Monitoring Network Alarms as required
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience:
Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade
Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license, upgrade as required
Must have a general knowledge of the principles involved in the operation of construction and maintenance methods and procedures
Experience as a Journeyperson Power Technician or Journeyperson Power Systems Electrician
Must pass the NERC exam to the level of Transmission Operator.
Must have passed the Control Center Operator Trainee and ASO exam.
Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required

Salary: $70.27 per hour (2026 Collective Agreement rates)
Shift: 12 hour 24 x 7 shifts
