The Casemaker Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of a case making machine producing hard cover cases for books. The Operator is responsible to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the case maker to produce a high-quality product to the prescribed quantity. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting basic machine performance, making adjustments and calling for additional resources as required.
Shift:
The successful candidate will work three (3) consecutive 12-hour night shifts per week, 6 PM to 6 AM.
Early Week Night Shift: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Machine operation experience
- Basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance experience
- Experience operating and using small tools
- Forklift experience an asset
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math skills (Metric and Imperial measurements, problem solving, conversion charts, etc.)
- Effective use of production related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities in product
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery, equipment, product
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing, time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work and communicate effectively with the Managers and co-workers
- Carry out jobs according to the schedule or as directed by the IP Production Manager
- Manage the case maker operation for quality, efficiency and productivity
- Understand the job requirements from information on the docket and other sources
- Request and arrange the components of the job in advance
- Set up the case maker as required
- Run samples covers making necessary adjustments
- Run job to required quantities
- Perform periodic visual and measurement checks
- Stack cases neatly on skids
- Identify finished lifts with accurate counts
- Arrange for finished component storage
- Return docket
- Perform case maker maintenance as described in the Casemaker Machine Maintenance Binder and the Operator’s Manual
- Practice Friesens safety procedures for equipment and plant situations
- Other duties as assigned by the IP Production or Operations Manager
