Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chiropodist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide expert foot and ankle care, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various foot conditions. This role involves working closely with patients across different age groups, including pediatrics and those requiring acute or chronic care. The Chiropodist will utilize their expertise in medical terminology, pain management, and patient care to improve patients' mobility and quality of life. Experience with electronic health records such as Epic and Cerner is preferred, along with a background in home care and medical office settings. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ foot and ankle health, including medical history review and physical examinations
- Develop personalized treatment plans addressing various conditions such as injuries, deformities, or chronic ailments
- Administer treatments including medication management, wound care, orthotic fitting, and other therapeutic interventions
- Educate patients on foot health maintenance, injury prevention, and proper footwear choices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and ensure optimal outcomes
- Document patient interactions accurately using electronic health record systems like Epic or Cerner
- Assist in data collection for research purposes related to podiatric health or clinical studies
- Stay current with advancements in podiatric medicine and participate in ongoing professional development
Skills
- Proven experience in hospital settings or outpatient clinics specializing in podiatry or related fields such as pediatrics or acute care
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to foot and ankle conditions
- Experience with pain management techniques and patient care strategies for diverse populations
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems including Epic and Cerner
- Ability to perform detailed assessments and develop effective treatment plans
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and empathy
- Prior experience in home care environments is advantageous but not required
