Black Tusk Research Group is a Site Management Organization (SMO) located in downtown Vancouver that specializes in operating clinical research for hospital-based investigators. This ranges from carrying out specific duties of the project including design, start-up, budgeting, financial reporting, recruitment, data collection, and study close out, to project managing from start to finish. Professional integrity and patient centered care are among our core values. We provide efficient and optimal regulatory, administrative, and project management support for clinical investigators within the Respiratory Division, Healthy Heart Clinic, Critical Care (Intensive Care unit), Pathology and the UBC Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at St. Paul's Hospital. Our group manages both academic grant funded and pharmaceutical/biotech funded studies, involving drugs and devices ranging across many disciplines: respiratory diseases including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) (bronchitis and emphysema), asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), cystic fibrosis (CF), as well as cardiovascular disease research, acute illnesses such as sepsis and pneumonia, and many others. This support runs the full gamut from trial initiation through study close-out.

JOB SUMMARY
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Dietitian. The Registered Dietitian works collaboratively with investigators, physicians, nurses, research coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to provide evidence-based nutrition care to research participants and patients. The Dietitian will conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, develop individualized nutrition care plans, provide nutrition counselling, monitor participant progress, and support nutrition-related aspects of clinical research studies. The successful candidate will also assist with study documentation, data collection, and protocol compliance while ensuring high-quality patient-centered care.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for research participants and patients.
- Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical guidelines and study protocols.
- Provide one-on-one nutrition counselling and education to participants with chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, diabetes, obesity, and other medical conditions.
- Monitor participants' nutritional status and modify care plans as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians, investigators, nurses, and research coordinators to support participant care throughout clinical studies.
- Collect and document nutrition-related data accurately in study records and electronic databases.
- Assist with dietary screening, food records, nutritional questionnaires, and research data collection.
- Ensure compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in study initiation, participant follow-up visits, and study close-out activities as required.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and complete reports in a timely manner.
- Educate participants regarding therapeutic diets, nutritional supplements, and healthy lifestyle interventions.
- Support the development and maintenance of nutrition-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with privacy legislation and organizational policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Current registration and good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC) as a Registered Dietitian.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical dietitian experience preferred.
- Experience working with patients in clinical, hospital, outpatient, community, or research settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and evidence-based nutrition practice.
- Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record systems.
- Experience with data collection and documentation in healthcare or research settings is considered an asset.
- Ability to maintain the highest standards of patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality patient care.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED AN ASSET
- Experience working in clinical research.
- Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) certification.
- Experience with REDCap or other clinical research databases.
- WHMIS certification.
- CPR/Basic Life Support certification.
- Experience working with chronic disease management programs.
- Experience providing virtual nutrition counselling.
Pay: $46.00-$50.00 per hour
