ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Advisor, Communications and Digital Marketing role at TransAlta offers a dynamic opportunity to shape and elevate our brand through strategic website management, compelling external communications, and targeted B2B marketing campaigns.
With a strong emphasis on technical prowess, marketing acumen, and design expertise this role reports to the Manager of Brand & Marketing and collaborates closely with IT, internal business stakeholders, external vendors, and marketing agencies to drive business growth and brand affinity.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Website Management and Strategy
- Manage website strategy and content, ensuring it is up-to-date, accurate, and aligns with brand messaging.

Develop and implement comprehensive web strategies to enhance the user experience, user interface design, drive traffic, and support business strategy.

Oversee website governance, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with legal, regulatory and accessibility standards.

Collaborate with IT and external vendors to implement website updates, troubleshoot issues, and optimize site performance.

Utilize web analytics tools to monitor and optimize site performance, user journeys and engagement, providing regular reports and insights to inform strategy.

Manage SEO strategies to improve search engine rankings and visibility.
External Communications and Marketing

Working closely with business stakeholders, develop and execute external communications strategies and compelling marketing materials to drive growth and brand awareness within key target markets in Canada, US and Australia.
- Implement targeted B2B marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency with TransAlta brand guidelines and corporate narrative, providing regular reports and insights.

Manage content calendars for external communications, coordinating with external agencies as needed.
- Implement social media strategy, in collaboration with communications team members.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
-
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media Production and Design, Web Design, Technical Communication, Information Technology, or a related field.

5-8 years of experience in communications and digital marketing, preferably within a corporate B2B environment.

Proven experience in website management using Wordpress, including governance and strategy

Expertise in user experience and user interface design, with a proven track record of delivering intuitive and user-centric solutions that enhance engagement and drive success.

Strong technical skills with proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms with an ability to align marketing objectives with business goals

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Proficient in HTML and JavaScript.

Excellent customer service skills and strong integrity relative to computer security and confidentiality of information.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical skills to measure and improve marketing performance and experience with analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
