Sharbot Lake Family Health Team
The Sharbot Lake Family Health Team (SLFHT) is seeking a positive, organized, and dedicated individual to join our team as a Medical Receptionist.
As our team continues to grow and expand services within the community, we are excited to recruit for this new permanent part-time position. We are looking for someone who is dependable, friendly, adaptable, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service and support to patients, colleagues, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Reception & Customer Service
- Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer and direct telephone calls, schedule and confirm appointments
- Respond to routine patient inquiries and direct concerns appropriately
- Support patient onboarding and attachment activities as required
Administrative Support
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Assist with scanning, filing, and electronic document management
- Maintain accurate records within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with clinic communications and general administrative tasks
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, and admin staff
- Assist with workflow coordination and day-to-day clinic operations
- Provide extra reception coverage and support during periods of increased activity or staff absences
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement and clinic initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy environment
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems
Preferred
- Experience in a reception, customer service, administrative, or health care setting
- Experience with electronic medical records or scheduling systems
- Familiarity with primary care or community health environments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Position Details
Position Title: Medical Receptionist
Status: Permanent Part-Time
Hours: Minimum three days per week (approximately 22.5 hours/week) Typical schedule is anticipated to be Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on operational needs.
Compensation: $22.50 per hour
Benefits: Benefits package valued at approximately 22.5% of salary
