We currently have two temporary openings for an Equipment Operator based out of our Calgary Facility located at 10351 46 Street SE. This position is a full time Monday - Friday morning shift 6:45am – 3:15pm.
Your Challenge
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, Floor Operations the chosen person is responsible for operating forklifts or skid steers safely and efficiently. This could include removing bales from the two balers, load or unload trucks and trailers and grade, scale and document materials that have been received or shipped.
Your baggage and your strengths:
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies, OH & S Legislation and WCB reporting procedures.
- Follow the preventative maintenance program for all stationary and mobile equipment including completing all supporting documentation and immediately report any defects which may jeopardize the safe operation of the equipment.
- Understand and maintain quality and production standards and work to achieve established production goals.
- Maintain clear and safe access to dumping areas for incoming vehicles.
- May be required to perform pre-sorting duties on the floor. This may include opening bags, removing large items, removing garbage, etc.
- May be required to perform traffic control duties for incoming vehicles.
- Report any contamination issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Report any issues with operation of conveyors, traffic congestion, safety concerns, etc. to the Lead Hand and/or Supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with the Production Supervisor and/or the Production Manager, to minimize errors and maximize production.
- Assists with direction and provides instruction on safety, production and quality issues to other staff as instructed.
- Trouble shoot problems with the equipment as required.
- Complete daily housekeeping assignments.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year equipment operation experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
- Fork lift and/or skid steer certification would be an asset.
- Previous experience with equipment used in the recycling industry (baler(s), conveyor(s), sort line, and all other equipment) and with related mobile equipment would be a definite asset.
