Position Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Packer will be accountable for the proper inspection, packaging, and labeling of protein products, ensuring every unit meets company quality standards and customer specifications before it leaves the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect product for quality, vacuum seal the item, and place it into the appropriate customer packaging.
Ensure proper weight, description, and date are accurately recorded on the product label.
Ensure packaging is properly sealed without tears, damage, or visual contamination.
Ensure the quality of received product is up to standard and dates are correct before processing.
Package products to customer specifications.
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work area at all times.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
Willingness to work with raw meat and seafood products in a refrigerated production environment (approximately 5°C).
Ability to perform physical tasks requiring lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing 30+ lbs safely and effectively.
Physical fitness and stamina to sustain prolonged periods of standing, repetitive movement, and manual labor throughout a full shift.
Previous production or food manufacturing experience is an asset but not required - full training is provided.
Strong commitment to food safety standards and practices.
Reliable, punctual, and looking for a long-term, stable position.
Willingness to work within, and become a member of, a unionized production environment.
Schedule & Compensation
Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (Fridays and Saturdays off).

Starting wage of $21.00/hour, with wage increases of $0.60/hour every 6 months under the current union agreement.
Top union rate for this role is scheduled to reach approximately $25.35/hour by December 2028; all employees reach the top rate within 30 months at the latest.
Overtime is paid at 1.5x for the first 2 hours and double-time thereafter (overtime has been minimal in recent periods, though the warehouse/production team occasionally requires it based on order volume).

Strict food safety protocols are enforced: no jewelry (a plain wedding band and a watch are permitted), no cosmetics/makeup in production areas.
This is a physically active, fast-paced production role performed in a cold environment; food safety and quality are treated as non-negotiable at every stage.
