Surveyor – Technical Services Department
Mount Polley Mining Corporation currently has a position available for a permanent, full-time Surveyor.
Responsibilities
- Design blast tie-ins & layouts, staking of ore/waste boundaries, surveying daily dig face advances to produce daily grades and creating daily dig maps.
- Prepare pit dewatering layouts.
- Conduct highwall monitoring.
- Provide reports to supervisors regarding feedback on loading and dumping areas.
- Record and store data. Update drawings using AutoCAD and MineSight software.
- Assist with mine planning projects.
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma in Survey or Mine Technology.
- Two to four years of experience in mining operations or technical professional setting (equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with the use of survey instruments for monitoring, data acquisition and computation.
- Working knowledge of computer software applications and capabilities as related to work requirements.
- Effective time management, planning. and communication skills with ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with attention to detail and minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
Work Environments/Conditions
The candidate must be physically fit with the ability to travel by foot or vehicle. Some requirements for this position include: Lifting, walking on uneven ground, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
