Design Engineer to join their engineering team in
Ancaster, Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys structural design, problem-solving, and collaborating with customers and project teams on challenging construction projects.
Key Responsibilities

Review structural, architectural, and mechanical drawings, along with project specifications, to extract critical design information.

Design steel joists and steel deck systems using proprietary engineering software while optimizing for quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Provide technical guidance and support to detailers, production personnel, and fellow engineering team members.

Communicate effectively with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical questions and coordinate project requirements.

Deliver exceptional customer service through professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and responsiveness.

Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, and project specifications.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.

Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible to obtain professional licensure.

Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and contract documents.
-
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn specialized engineering software.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
-
Two or more years of experience in steel joist, steel deck, structural steel design, fabrication, or erection.

Knowledge of:

National Building Code of Canada (NBCC)
-
CSA S16
-
CSA S136
-
Experience with structural steel analysis and design, including:

Truss design
-
Diaphragm systems
-
Welding and bolting concepts
-
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing project demands.

Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
