Job Overview:
We are looking for an IV Infusion Nurse. This role requires a registered nurse with outstanding customer service skills that is highly proficient in administering intravenous (IV) therapies to patients including expertise in infusion techniques, knowledge of various medications, and the ability to provide comprehensive patient care during infusion therapy sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
· Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine their eligibility for IV therapy.
· Review medical histories, allergies, and current medications to ensure safe administration.
IV Administration:
· Prepare and administer IV medications according to prescribed protocols.
· Monitor patients during IV therapy sessions for any adverse reactions or complications.
· Adjust infusion rates as needed based on patient response.
Equipment Management:
· Set up and maintain IV infusion equipment.
· Ensure the proper functioning and sterility of infusion equipment.
Documentation:
· Maintain accurate and detailed records of IV therapy sessions, including medication administration, patient responses, and any observed side effects.
· Document vital signs and other relevant patient information.
Patient Education:
· Educate patients on the purpose of the IV therapy, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
· Provide instructions for at-home care.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
· Communicate with nurse practitioner, pharmacist, and other healthcare providers, as needed, to coordinate and optimize patient care.
Infection Control:
· Adhere to strict infection control practices to prevent complications during IV therapy.
· Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Emergency Response:
· Respond promptly to any adverse reactions or emergencies during IV therapy.
· Initiate appropriate interventions and collaborate with the healthcare team as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Registered Nurse (RN) license.
· Applicant must have and be willing to maintain professional liability protection (e.g., RNAO)
· Certification in infusion therapy (e.g., CRNI - Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) may be required or preferred.
Experience:
· Acute/Critical care nursing experience: 2 year (Required)
· Basic IV: 2 year (Required)
· Infusion: 2 year (Required)
· Demonstrated expertise in IV therapy and infusion techniques.
· An expectation of all our nurses is that each nurse must maintain a minimum of a 97%+ success (first stick) for all our clients.
· Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
· An expectation of our nurses is that you are experienced with administering common IV push and/or IM medications such as famotidine, diphenhydramine and ondansatron.
· Knowledge of relevant medications, their effects, and potential complications.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
