General Position Overview
Respite Providers will deliver respite childcare services to help support children and their families during military-related separations. This position requires a thorough understanding of the unique and demanding lifestyle experienced by the military family, how these challenges can affect child development and parenting, and the proven ability to use this knowledge to implement programming that promotes healthy child development and resiliency.
Hours of Work: On call basis to meet the needs of the program, up to 12 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
Start Date: To be discussed. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Salary Range: $30.00/hr.
Qualifications and Competencies Respite Providers will:
● Diploma or degree in a child studies related field is preferred,
● A minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing direct quality care for children under the age of 12,
● A minimum of one (1) years’ experience supporting children with additional or diverse needs in a childcare or early learning environment,
● have experience providing care and support to military connected families,
● provide a current police reference check with vulnerable sectors screening, dated within the last six months,
● standard first aid and CPR level C certificate, and up-to-date immunization,
● a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills,
● a proven ability to be part of a collaborative team,
● strong advocacy skills with the ability to work towards an inclusive and supportive environment,
● have the ability to work as part of a team,
● have written and oral fluency in English, written and oral fluency in French would be considered an asset.
