- Additional Requirement: Participation in Manager on Duty (MOD) weekend rotation
- Salary: $55,000 annually

About the Opportunity
Grandview Retirement Living has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director of Care to join our leadership team. This role is well suited for a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who is interested in developing leadership and management skills within a retirement living environment, as well as candidates who already have some supervisory experience and are looking to expand their scope. The Assistant Director of Care role offers meaningful exposure to clinical leadership, staff support, regulatory compliance, and operational coordination, while working closely with the Director of Care in a supportive, collaborative environment. As our new Assistant Director of Care, you will:
- Provide professional nursing leadership and support for resident care and wellness services
- Support the Director of Care with Wellness team oversight, including scheduling support, coaching, and performance feedback
- Assist with coordinating clinical and wellness operations and provide leadership support as required
- Assess resident needs and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans
- Monitor changes in resident condition and collaborate with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Support admissions, discharges, and care transitions
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and regulatory standards
- Support compliance with the Retirement Homes Act and RHRA regulations
- Ensure Infection Prevention and Control practices meet regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation, incident reports, and medical records
- Participate in quality improvement, safety, and fire safety programs
- Foster positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, team members, and community partners
- Participate in marketing events and provide tours to prospective residents and families
What you bring to the role:
- Current registration and good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
(Registered Nurses with relevant experience are also welcome to apply)
- Medication Administration certification
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Interest in developing leadership, management, and regulatory knowledge
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and work within RHRA legislation and compliance requirements
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning
