This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager or designate of the assigned unit for provision of direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with other health care providers, patients/residents and families, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice, maintain appropriate clinical competencies, and contributes to a healthy workplace while practicing within the LPN scope of practice in order to provide care to the patient. When necessary, expected to be available for all shifts, including days, evening, weekends and holidays.

The duties of the LPN will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing and able to function at full LPN scope of practice
Current CPR certification
Physical assessment skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth
Ability to organize, prioritize, supervise patient/resident care and be accountable for decisions
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships and teaching skills when dealing with patients, visitors and other health care providers
Basic computer skills
Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as fine motor dexterity and adjust to varying workloads
Must be able to perform duties that involve lifting, bending and stretching
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Three (3) permanent, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Salary Information
$24.6707 - $26.4961 hourly
