Job Description:
A Planner is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the preparation, submission, and tracking of planning applications, including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Approvals, and Subdivision/Condominium applications.
- Prepare and interpret planning drawings, maps, and graphics using AutoCAD, GIS, and other planning software.
- Research zoning by-laws, official plans, and provincial policies relevant to development proposals.
- Compile and analyze demographic, environmental, and land use data to support planning reports and presentations.
- Prepare planning justification reports, public consultation materials, and correspondence with clients and municipalities.
- Support coordination between planning, engineering, and architectural teams for integrated project delivery.
- Attend municipal meetings, public consultations, and site visits as required.
- Maintain organized project files, application records, and schedules to ensure timely submissions.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Design, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a municipal or private planning environment (co-op experience may be considered).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail in mapping and report preparation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
