SAIT FM's Campus Development is the trusted partner and steward of the SAIT’s campus community in which it contributes to the economic, social, and environmental health and sustainability which supports students and employees success as a global leader in applied education.
We are currently recruiting for an Architectural Technologist, Design & Standards, Campus Development who works with and supports various project teams to ensure design, life safety, standards and scope are adhered to throughout every project’s lifecycle. The Technologist will additionally support and facilitate Campus Development – Strategic Planning, Design, & Projects processes and assist with day to day administrative tasks. The Technologist activities include programming, space planning, materials and FFE selection, as directed by the Managers of Campus Development; contract documents and drawings to be completed in AutoCAD or Revit is a must. The Technologist will also review external consultant drawings, checking for accuracy, coordination and completeness, and assists in the planning and coordination of all documentation for consultants as the owner’s representative. The technologist might review drawings from architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural consultants.

The Technologist will design and layout interior building renovations using programming gathered as a direct contact and in coordination with user/client departments and external consultants, development of conceptual plans, drafting of contract documents and specifications. The Technologist must maintain current knowledge of building products, design procedures, building code requirements, construction costs and departmental policy. The Technologist must be comfortable with learning IWMS software – such as Archibus – as well as terminology and duties required for maintenance of a system.

Job Description

Works with and supports various project teams to ensure design, life safety, standards and scope are adhered to throughout every project’s lifecycle
Supports and facilitates Campus Development – Strategic Planning, Design, & Projects processes and assist with day to day administrative tasks.
Programming, space planning, materials and FFE selection
Creates contract documents and drawings to be completed in AutoCAD and Revit
Knowledge of building products, design procedures, building code
Ability to work with and/or coordinate work with external consultants
Reviews external consultant drawings, checking for accuracy, coordination and completeness
Interior design which includes interior furniture and finish standards and Furniture RFP
Assists in the planning and coordination of all documentation for consultants as the owner’s representative
Designs and lays out interior building renovations using programming gathered as a direct contact and in coordination with user/client departments
Researching best practices/products in furniture, finishes, technology and other areas
Qualifications

Post-Secondary Education Diploma/Degree in Interior Design, Architectural Engineering Technology, Architecture or Architectural Technology, Interior Design or Civil Engineering
Minimum of 5 years work experience in interior design or architectural design
AutoCAD proficiency
ASET, LEED AP or NCIDQ would be an asset
Experienced in Post-secondary/Higher education design an asset
Combined work experience and education may be considered

Sketchup an asset
Intermediate level of Revit
Intermediate level of AutoCAD 2013
Intermediate level of Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel
Microsoft Project considered an asset
Beginner level Adobe Creative Suite and/or Bluebeam
Intermediate level hand sketching
Basic understanding of AWMAC standards, electrical and mechanical for interior design
Basic understanding of project management and contract documentation standards
Basic understanding of Sustainable building accreditation like LEED an asset
