General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for systematically managing operational cost efficiency, Client and Company policy and procedures, and guest and employee safety. Acting as a resource and providing leadership to the Lodge and Kitchen Management teams, the General Manager has a collaborative approach to employee development, KPI achievement and Client satisfaction. The incumbent will be an integral member of the management team and largely contribute to achieving operational success. This position is a site based rotational schedule. Experience in multi-unit, geographically diverse operations will aide in their success. This position will report directly to the Manager, Field Operations. Work locations are camps in the Fort McMurray region.

Duties and Responsibilities
Leads a team of 5-10 direct reports and 50+ indirect reports
Provides leadership and direction to support the growth and development of team members
Develops team members by supporting professional development, providing regular feedback and completing annual performance reviews
Provides support, guidance and direction to a geographically diverse, multi-unit operation
Identifies efficiencies and works with operations and Client to partner in improvement
Executes consistent quality control standards
Evaluates, forecasts and controls man day costs
Accountable for budgetary oversight of contract adherance
Supports operations in maintaining and building upon a desirable client experience
Stays up to date in industry trends, proposing changes accordingly
Plans, evaluates and administers a comprehensive staff training program
Models, teaches and drives Horizon North’s safety culture
Other duties as assigned
High school or equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred
Progressive leadership responsibility in remote accommodations field

Adaptive communication style, able to convey a clear oral and written message
Strong business acumen with focus on financial analysis and reporting
Able to de-escalate tense situation and facilitate conflict management
Comfortable with various software programs and technologies

Working Conditions
Site environment with rotational work schedule, potentially requiring travel to Edmonton Office.
