What you can expect in a typical day
As a Building Operations Project Coordinator at the Irving Oil home office you will support the operations and maintenance of our corporate buildings, creating a safe, sustainable, clean and functional work environment for employees, visitors and customers.
What you’ll need to succeed
Very strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, very organized, and can effectively multi-task in a fast-paced, compliance driven environment.

Participate in the development of short, medium and long term maintenance strategies for the home office
Identify and resolve matters associated with mechanical and electrical systems
Supervise contractors undertaking maintenance activities
Liaise with key stakeholders and communicate planned and reactive works
Participate in the management of reactive tasks
Participate in the planning for all works as required in all buildings in the Building Operations portfolio
Participate in the planning and delivery of all building fire drills and fire alarm responses
Develop maintenance strategies for additional buildings in the portfolio as determined by the Director of Building Operations
Identify and implement innovations in the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the portfolio
Identify opportunities for delivering efficiencies in Building Operations
Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work in order to deliver successful results within agreed upon time frames.
Solid Decision-making skills, detail orientated and good organizational skills, positive attitude and willingness to work overtime if required and respond to emergencies when they occur, adaptable to new ideas and change
Education and experience
Required: mechanical engineering or power engineering or equivalent experience.
Commercial or industrial environment with 8 to 12 years’ experience, desirable to have 2 years at a supervisory or management position.
Technical and Computer literacy skills- MS Office, Excel, BAS, Lighting Control Systems, HVAC, boilers, chillers, refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing, civil, electrical knowledge, etc.
Hands on and strong knowledge of general maintenance, knowledge of OHSA, WHMIS, Building Code, Canadian Electric Code, Fire Code, Electrical Safety Authority (NB), etc.
