We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Khàtìnas.àxh Community School team . The KCS school strives to make Place Based and Traditional teachings On the Land a Priority for all learning opportunities with students. This position provides opportunities to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders; Opportunity to work within a wide variety of situations; Opportunity to work as a member of a team; Opportunities to showcase good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; Opportunities to explore and undertake a variety of assignments within the classroom setting and in on the land learning situations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent

Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset
-
Experience working with youth with special needs with training in Autism would be an asset
-
Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset
-
Experience working with First Nation students in a culturally diverse community would be considered and asset
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;

Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;

Ability to work as a member of a team;
-
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;

Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;

Ability to work with minimal supervision;

Experience working with children with Autism is an asset

Experience working with students in outdoor learning environments is an asset
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date

Standard First Aid Certificate or a willingness to complete within 3 months

Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the school year
