About the Opportunity
A growing residential construction company in the Greater Saint John area is building a dedicated drywall, taping, and painting division and is seeking an experienced Finishing Division Lead to help establish and lead the operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in high-quality finishing work and enjoys teaching, organizing, and developing a team.
You will be directly involved in drywall installation and finishing, taping, mudding, sanding, surface preparation, and painting, while also helping plan and coordinate finishing work across multiple projects.
Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to build a finishing crew from the ground up, developing labourers and less-experienced workers into skilled finishers.

About the Role
The Finishing Division Lead will oversee the drywall, taping, and painting scope for residential construction projects, working in both a factory and job-site environment.
This role combines hands-on finishing expertise with leadership, scheduling, material planning, quality control, and employee development.
The successful candidate will help establish consistent finishing standards and processes while building a skilled team capable of supporting the company's growing construction volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and finish drywall to a high professional standard.
- Complete taping, mudding, sanding, crack filling, and surface preparation.
- Prepare interior surfaces to a smooth, paint-ready finish.
- Prime and paint interior surfaces to achieve a clean, consistent result.
- Complete drywall repairs, finishing, and repainting at company-owned properties as required.
- Plan and sequence finishing work across active residential construction projects and modular units.
- Coordinate finishing activities with other trades and project schedules.
- Inspect completed work and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Identify and manage punch-list items and ensure finishing work is completed before project handover.
- Prepare material estimates and coordinate ordering and availability of supplies.
- Maintain organized tools, materials, and work areas.
- Establish efficient work practices and standards for the finishing division.
- Train, coach, and supervise labourers and less-experienced workers.
- Identify individuals with the aptitude, work ethic, and positive attitude to develop into skilled finishers.
- Provide hands-on instruction and mentorship as crew members develop their skills.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and safety-focused workplace.
- Lead by example and take ownership of the quality and completion of the finishing scope.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in drywall installation, taping, finishing, and interior painting.
- Strong understanding of drywall finishing techniques and surface preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to produce consistently high-quality finished work.
- Strong attention to detail and a good eye for finish quality.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, training, or mentoring workers is strongly preferred.
- Ability to organize, plan, and sequence work efficiently.
- Comfortable estimating material requirements and managing supplies.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team.
- Valid New Brunswick driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to quality workmanship.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, year-round employment.
- Work will take place at residential construction sites throughout the Greater Saint John area and in a factory environment.
- Occasional travel between job sites and company-owned properties may be required.
- Work may be required in a variety of weather conditions.
- Position involves standing, bending, reaching overhead, climbing ladders or working from stilts, sanding, and other physical activities.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Exposure to drywall dust and paint products; appropriate PPE and safety procedures must be followed.
- CSA-approved footwear and required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn.
