- Reporting to: Child Care Manager
- Team: Works alongside childcare educators and leaders
- Location: Multiple YMCA childcare sites (regional)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am–9:00am and 1:30pm–3:30pm; additional hours for training, early dismissal days, and seasonal programs
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values safety and responsibility, and is looking for a flexible role that combines transportation and child care support.
In this role, you will ensure safe transportation and support the overall child care experience.
- Safely operate YMCA vehicles in compliance with provincial regulations and YMCA standards
- Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times
- Maintain vehicle safety, ensuring children remain seated with seatbelts fastened
- Assist children boarding and exiting the vehicle and release only to authorized individuals
- Complete daily pre-trip inspections and required documentation
- Support child care staff in supervising children aged 5–12
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff
- Foster inclusive interactions aligned with YMCA values
- Follow all YMCA and provincial licensing policies and procedures
- Valid B.C. Class 4 (Unrestricted) or Class 2 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract (updated annually)
- Completion of at least 20 hours of coursework in child development, guidance, health & safety, or nutrition (financial support may be available)
- Current First Aid certification with CPR Level B or C (financial support may be available)
- Experience working with children or in a care/support setting is an asset

- Provide three professional references
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months of start date)
- Ability to adhere to YMCA safety and training standards
