The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Cash Operations co-op student/intern for the Winter 2022 work term (January to April) with the potential for extension, to provide high-level data analytics & insights, as well as continuous improvement project work.

The Cash Operations co-op/intern will work within our Investment Operations department. This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge to prepare and develop department analytics, as well as a variety of continuous improvement projects.

The Cash Operations team is committed to the following mission:
To provide exceptional and proactive service to internal and external clients that adds value and allows our asset managers to focus on earning superior risk-adjusted returns for our external clients. Targeting 100% accuracy, we aim to move money to/from our clients and vendors so that funds are available as and when required. Through strategic innovation, our goal is to execute more quickly, more accurately, with less risk and/or more profitably for our clients.
The co-op student/intern will work under the supervision of a Cash Operations Analyst and will collaborate with the Cash Operations Analyst team (team of 5). Work will primarily focus on Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting and projects, with a secondary focus on day-to-day processing and operations.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Work under the supervision of a Cash Operations Analyst
Prepare and develop monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports
Prepare the agenda and record minutes for weekly team meetings
Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team
Provide support on continuous improvement projects, which will involve the application of technical skills listed below
Develop conceptual knowledge of cash management within an investment management firm
Troubleshoot and enhance existing workflows/workbooks used in daily operations
A fundamental knowledge of basic business and investment-related disciplines is essential
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail
Has an interest in investment management, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn
Strong research skills combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to set boundaries and maintain a work/life balance
Technical skills, including prior experience/training with one or more of the following programs/languages (ordered by relevance to role):
Microsoft Power BI
VBA & Power Query; Excel
