Job Description & Responsibilities:
Victoria Contracting & Municipal Maintenance is looking for an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our team. This position requires problem solving skills and a good understanding of irrigation systems.
Victoria Contracting provides maintenance services to several municipalities in the Capital Regional District and as such the Irrigation Technician may have a diverse range of responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Assisting with installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
- Operating basic hand tools such as saws, shovels, rakes, etc.
- Operating job-related equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures
- Assisting in other physical labour tasks as required
- Participating in and recording pre-job safety meetings
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment
- Strong communication skills, specifically the ability to convey information effectively
- Strong active listening skills, specifically taking directions and putting them into action
- Landscape and/or horticultural experience is considered an asset
Working Conditions:
This job is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. The applicant must be able to stand/kneel for extended periods of time, lift and carry heavy objects, and do repetitive tasks.

- Backflow Assembly Tester Certification

- Ability to read construction drawings
Compensation:
Salary will be based upon experience and competitive to the industry standards.
