Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Facility Maintenance, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and operation of building systems and equipment to support the safe and efficient operation of the Centre. This role contributes to preventative maintenance programs and responds to operational needs to ensure the reliable performance of all building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, repair, and alteration of building systems, HVAC, and service equipment using a variety of hand and machine tools
- Operate and maintain equipment including forklifts, scrubbers, boilers, pumps, and food and beverage equipment
- Conduct routine and preventative maintenance inspections; respond to emergency service calls as required
- Complete basic estimates and material take-offs; identify and request required parts and supplies
- Perform Shift Engineer duties and operate equipment as required
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, policies, and applicable legislation
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Strong guest service focus with the ability to support a positive experience for guests, vendors, and colleagues
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial, institutional, or industrial facilities, including central building systems and mechanical equipment
- High school diploma supplemented by technical or trade-related training
- Valid Province of Manitoba Power Engineer's Certificate
- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining commercial HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical equipment, including pumps, air handling units, boilers, chillers, and associated control systems
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, work order management systems, and equipment lifecycle maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and building system drawings and schematics
- Familiarity with Honeywell XL 5000 and Delta DDC systems would be consideed an asset
- Experience working within large public, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, educational, industrial, or event facilities
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to operational issues with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills

This is a scheduled position with salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Convention Centre Corporation and the International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 987.
