Our Aurora Sun facility, located in Medicine Hat, AB, is currently looking to hire a Harvest Team Lead to join our team. The incumbent will report directly to the Manager, Harvest

  • Note: For training purposes the successful candidate may be required to spend up to the first month of their employment at the Aurora Sky facility near Edmonton, AB, and/or, travelling between Sun and Sky as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Liaise on a daily basis with the Manager, Harvest and other operations Managers to formulate and execute clear Harvest Team goals
Communicate deadlines and goals to Shift Leads and support their achievement
Oversee day-to-day operations and organize workflow to meet targets and deadlines
Develop strategies to promote Team Member adherence to company regulations and performance goals
Conduct Team meetings to update staff on best practices and continuing expectations
Use SAGE Enterprise Resource Planning system to monitor, project, summarize, and report on Manufacturing data, targets, and department performance
Generate and distribute reports on team performance, mission-related objectives, and deadlines
Report concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to the Manager, Harvest
Work closely with department Leads and support staff from other areas such as Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Propagation, and Materials/Warehouse to problem solve and resolve issues
Assist with the hiring, onboarding, and training of new Team Members
Manage schedules for employees, verifying employees’ attendance, leaves and disciplinary issues
Carry out performance reviews
Assist with conflict resolution and employee relations issues within the teams
Provide technical and management support for the Harvest department when the Manager is out of the office or not available

Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience
Experience in a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment is considered an asset
Strong organizational and time management skills including effective prioritization and follow-up

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively and work well under pressure and tight timelines
Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
Ability to foster a friendly and efficient work environment, motivating others to meet goals
Ability to supervise a team of individuals and address any areas of concern with respect to performance or processes
