We are a small accounting firm seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team and help deliver exceptional service to our clients. Our firm is growing, and we are looking for the right person to join our team.
Our firm
- Specializes in working with owners and professionals of private corporations to help build their wealth and minimize their taxes
- Our clients are in a wide range of industries including medical professionals, information technology, construction, Engineering firms, retail, Real estate Agents, Real Estate and mortgage brokerage
- We provide compilation engagements (i.e. Notice to Readers). We do not do reviews or audits
- Tax services range from preparation of corporate and personal tax returns, corporate reorganizations, Estate and Trust returns
Responsibilities
- Preparation of personal tax returns
- Preparation of compilation engagements including working paper files with adjusting journal entries and reference supporting documentation; GST Returns and reconciliations; payroll returns and reconciliations; and corporate tax returns
- Assist with bookkeeping for our clients including preparation of government remittances/filings and payroll, bank and credit card reconciliations, receivables and payables.
- Investment statement summaries and analysis including calculating adjusted cost base, capital gains and losses and reconciling to information returns (T3, T5, T5013)
- Communicate with Government regarding information requests, assessments and other issues that may arise
- Keeping Sole Practitioner informed of problems encountered with assigned work, researching alternatives and recommending solutions to those problems
- Preparation of T4 and T5’s
- Other duties as requested Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- University degree or college diploma in accounting
- Near completion or recently completed CPA preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public practice required
- Must be proficient with the following software:
- QuickBooks desktop & Online
- Caseware
- Jazzit
- Excel and Word
- Profile
- CCHifirm (preferred)
- Must have minimum of 2 years preparing personal and corporate tax returns
