Please do not apply if you don have overhead crane experience
The Experienced Material Handler/Overhead Crane Operator will assist in coordinating the logistics of all aspects of the supply chain in the warehouse/shipping/receiving department. The successful candidate will spend 75% of the day operating an overhead crane.
Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Ensure that received products and material are thoroughly inspected for defects prior to being received and that any issues are identified and credits applied to supplier
Ensure that all damaged products are returned to suppliers in a timely fashion to receive credit
Ensure that production scheduling is being adhered to in order to ensure no impact on customers. This includes following up on back-ordered items
Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring safety and security procedures and protocols
Controls both material and product inventory levels by conducting physical counts/audits while working/reconciling within software
Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment i.e. crane ; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
Achieves financial objectives by making recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations
Completes warehouse operational requirements by following up on work results; assist General Manager as required
Contributes to team effort by developing and implementing new systems, best practices, inventory control, demand planning and other optimizations in order to grow the business
Contacting customers and providing updates to appropriate staff regarding delays for products and installations
Ensure all material and products are received prior to production starting including back ordered items
Additional duties as required by the business
Job Requirements:
Previous work experience in a warehouse environment, knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act
Must have operational 7.5 ton crane license, forklift license, working at heights/fall arrest training or the willingness to obtain these certifications/training
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, consistently meet deadlines, resolve issues, provide follow up
Strong interpersonal skills is a must - strong work ethic, team player with all staff
Possess effective verbal, written, numerical and IT communication skills
Lifting products/supplies as necessary, i.e. plumbing fixtures, raw materials
