NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! WATT is your fast-track pathway into the Union and Electrical Apprenticeship through The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
WATT is an Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program that leads directly to employment!
Through WATT (Workplace Alternative Trades Training), you can be trained and hired as a Pre-Apprentice Electrician in as little as one month.
About WATT:
- No experience is required
- Fast-track (get everything you need to become a sponsored apprentice and be employed in under a month!)
- No academic pre-requisites
- There is no cost!

WATT is intended to reduce barriers to apprenticeship, particularly for Equity Seeking candidates including (but not limited to) Women, Indigenous, Youth (up to 29), Newcomer and 2SLGBTQIA+ applicants.
IBEW Local 230 is currently hiring new apprentices (electrician's helpers) in Victoria and the Capital Regional District. The starting commercial rate under the collective agreement is $24.33/h (as of April 28, 2024)
