We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Payroll Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible to process payroll for Canadian employees and all expatriates, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable about Canadian payroll regulations and possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving, customer service and communication skills. This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and who is an effective communicator that partners with team members, HR colleagues and the business.
This is a full-time employee position located in our corporate office in Calgary, Alberta.
What you’ll do:
Prepare and process payroll for all Canadian employees (salaried, fixed rate, temporary, expatriates) and support regulatory filing and year-end activities.
Maintain the accuracy of all payroll related data.
Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.
Conduct audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy. Investigate data discrepancies/errors and resolve or escalate in a timely manner.
Assist and backup other members of the payroll team as required.
Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
Prepare and submit payroll reports, including year-end tax forms, to government authorities and internal partners.
Handle sensitive employee information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data.
Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding payroll-related inquiries, issues, and policies.
Collaborate with external auditors during payroll audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
Collaborate and establish relationships with payroll team members, supporting an efficient and high-performing work environment.
Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll and time processes, provide insights and recommendations.
Who you are:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Professional payroll certification/designation is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5+ years of payroll experience; demonstrated proficiency running in house payroll is required.
Experience processing multi-provincial and multi-cycle payroll.
Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
Experience working with a large ERP payroll system; expertise in SAP Payroll or SAP SuccessFactors is an asset.
Robust system experience with the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
Self-motivated individual who works well independently and as part of a team.
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Strong understanding of internal controls and payroll best practices.
Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
