Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Baker to support daily production and contribute to a well-rounded kitchen operation. This role goes beyond baking, covering pastries, scones, cookies, and quick breads, along with soups, sandwiches, spreads, syrups, and marinated items.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, with a strong focus on consistency, quality, and teamwork. This position is suited for someone who can manage production tasks efficiently while contributing to a clean, structured, and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily production of baked goods including cakes, bread, pastries, scones, cookies, and seasonal items
- Prepare and support kitchen items beyond baking, including soups, sandwiches, spreads, syrups, and marinated proteins
- Follow production schedules and coordinate with the team to ensure all items are ready for service
- Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and product standards
- Assist in recipe development, testing, and standardization of new and seasonal items
- Support inventory management, including monitoring stock, ordering, and cost control
- Ensure food safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment care
- Coordinate with front-of-house for daily needs, displays, and special orders
- Support catering orders and event preparation
- Assist with prep planning, reporting, and general administrative tasks as needed
- Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently (ovens, mixers, decorating tools)
- Assist with general food preparation, assembly, packaging, and service support
- Step into customer-facing roles when needed, providing clear product knowledge and support
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of baking experience (required)
- Culinary or Baking Certificate/Diploma (required)
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and food preparation beyond baking
- Creative and innovative approach to recipe development and seasonal offerings
- Proven experience in commercial or high-volume baking operations
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Passionate about food quality, creativity, and presentation
- Willingness to support multiple areas of kitchen and café operations
- Willingness to cross-train and assist in other café operations when needed
