Preschool Teacher – Learning Tree Preschool
Location: Sherwood Park, AB
Position Type: Part-Time (September–end ofJune)
Please note: This is not a daycare or childcare position. This is a teaching position within a structured preschool program designed to prepare children for Kindergarten.
Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays |
Teacher is requied to be on site from 8:15 AM – 12:00 PM
The children are in class from 8:45 AM -11:00 AM
About the Position
The Learning Tree Preschool has been educationg children since 1994. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Preschool Teacher to join our educational team.
Please note: We are looking to have this candidate start at the end of August 2026 (hours will vary to plan and get the room ready for the start of The Learning Tree Preschool)
We are looking for a candidate who has taught in an Early Childhood classroom/Kindergarten classroom/Pre- K Program.
Our preschool program focuses on kindergarten readiness through play-based learning, early literacy, early numeracy, social-emotional development, and educator-led learning experiences.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess one of the following:
- Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate
Responsibilities
- This is a LEAD Teacher role, this person must be able to teach and interact with a group of children who will be attending Kindergarten the following year. (maximum 24 children with an Assistant teacher)
- All planning is done by this LEAD teacher
- Implement engaging preschool lesson plans and activities
- Support children's development in literacy, early math, communication, and social-emotional skills
- Create a structured classroom environment that promotes learning and independence
- Lead circle time, story time, art activities, and educational learning experiences
- Assess and document children's progress and development
- Foster positive relationships with children and families
- Document and post classroom activities on our private parent app after each class
- Maintain classroom organization and learning materials
- Work collaboratively with administration and fellow educators
- While there is paid planning time, the applicant must be willing to also do some planning on their own time without pay, should it be needed. Just like a regular classroom and teacher position.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working in a Preschool or educational setting
- Be able to have positive communication with parents
- Be passionate about preparing children for Kindergarten
- Understand child development and age-appropriate teaching practices
- Value both educator-guided instruction and child-led exploration
- Demonstrate excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Be reliable (as this candidate is the LEAD teacher, attendance for each class is very , very important) professional, and organized.

About Learning Tree Preschool
Learning Tree Preschool is a 3-morning-per-week preschool program located in Sherwood Park. Our classes run from September through June and are designed specifically for children entering Kindergarten the following year. Through a balance of guided instruction, hands-on learning, and independent exploration, we help children build confidence, curiosity, friendships, and foundational skills for future academic success.
