Work setting: On site. Various locations. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary/Hours: $36.00 hourly / 40 to 60 hours per week
Terms of Employment: Permanent employment, Full time
Shift Schedule: Early morning, Evening, Shift, Morning, Night, Day, Weekend
Languages: English
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Duties and Responsibilities
- Professionalism in customer service
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
Credentials: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)
Transportation/travel information: Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight
