Your decision making, problem solving, critical thinking , teaching ability and communication skills will be key to your success in this role as you will work closely with family physicians, registered nurses, and allied health professionals to provide culturally appropriate and individualized care including post-visit education, health information support, and health care navigation to patients of all ages and abilities across the life span This is a physically demanding job where you will be lifting to 50lb or assisting patients onto exam tables, extended periods of standing and the ability for frequent bending, kneeling, and twisting. In addition, you will also provide clinical assessment, health routine immunizations, therapeutic injections, wound care, cast removal, immediate first aid response, collection of routine lab samples, process point-of-care- lab test and medications administration. Working in a busy, noisy work environment and the ability to manage high clinic volumes are also required. It is critical for the incumbent to possess friendly, welcoming communication skills both in person, written and on the telephone. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and PCA policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience in a primary care clinic. At least 1 year experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Capable of managing 3 or more scheduled patients and assist with other duties as they arise. Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a busy clinical environment. Detail orientated, strong organizational skills and time management. Demonstrated initiative and strong communication skills. Ability to work as a team player within a multidisciplinary team. Experience with woman’s health assist with procedures. Demonstrated eagerness to contribute to quality health care initiatives. Demonstrated motivation toward continual professional learning and growth mind set.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Connect Care documentation. Advanced Nursing Certification such as foot care, women’s health, or a willingness to expand scope of practice as per CLPNA and PCA guidelines. Experience in a community health clinic or primary care setting. Certification and experience with PAP procedures is preferred.
