About the BC Lung Foundation
The BC Lung Foundation is one of British Columbia’s leading Not for Profit Health organizations. Founded nearly 120 years ago as an anti-tuberculosis society, we have grown and adapted to address the lung health issues affecting British Columbians today— including Asthma, COPD, Lung Cancer, Smoking and Vaping Cessation, Respiratory Infections, Wildfire Smoke, and Air Quality. Our work supports the one in five British Columbians living with lung disease through patient programs, internationally recognized research, education, and advocacy.
We are looking for a positive, highly organized, and resourceful Health Initiatives Outreach Coordinator to help plan and deliver our community programming. This is a hands-on role for someone excited and motivated to work on the ground with communities most impacted by climate change, poor air quality, and lung health challenges, sometimes taking you to rural and remote parts of British Columbia. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of lung health outcomes in BC and make a real impact in communities across the province.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, takes ownership of tasks, and has a background in Public Health, Health Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Health Initiatives & Programs, the Outreach Coordinator will support the planning, coordination, and on-site delivery of the following Health Initiatives:
- Public Health Conferences and Patient Forums
- Asthma Education Camps
- Climate Change Resiliency Workshops
- Radon Awareness and Outreach
- Social Media Campaigns
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of community workshops for Carter’s Project, including attending workshops and events, installing PurpleAir monitors, liaising with partners, developing marketing materials, registering participants, developing follow-up surveys, and conducting evaluations
- Support the delivery of the department's regular programming, including the Air Quality and Health Workshop, webinar series, support groups, and Radon Initiatives
- In partnership with BC Lung’s Health Educators, support the delivery of BC Lung’s annual Asthma Education Camps, including registration support, on-site management, and post-event evaluation
- Translate complex information about air quality, climate change, and lung disease into simplified and accurate information for the public
- Research, recommend, and support the implementation of knowledge translation initiatives across the health initiatives priority areas
- Support the department in implementing public health methodology into BC Lung Health Initiatives
- Facilitate the development, production, and evaluation of health communication materials on social media through short-form videos and infographics (including being comfortable on-camera)
- Write, edit, and produce a variety of written materials (brochures, newsletters, factsheets)
- Monitor inboxes and respond to inquiries from the public related to health initiatives programming
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- An undergraduate degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Communications, or a related degree.
- Experience with community outreach, organizing community events, or facilitating workshops
- Confidence in public speaking
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Basic knowledge of public health methodology
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to adapt to challenges
Position Requirements
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
- Ability to regularly travel within Vancouver and the Lower Mainland
- Ability to occasionally travel within BC (Required for Carter’s Project, climate resiliency workshops, and other programming) but will typically be planned many months in advance
- Availability to work occasionally on evenings and weekends in connection with events
What We Offer
The BC Lung Foundation operates on a four-day work week, with regular office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a hybrid working model.
Some flexibility will be required during event periods.

This is a full-time, permanent position.
Salary: $55,000- $60,000
