Start at the front counter. Learn a trade while you're there.
Most entry-level jobs don't lead anywhere. This one does — and we can
prove it. One of our technicians started three months ago with no repair
experience. He now handles most of the phone repairs that come through
our door.
Mobile Klinik Rutherford is a standalone store in Nanaimo with a team of
five. We're an authorized repair centre, which means we handle warranty
work for Asurion, Samsung and Google that most shops aren't permitted to
touch. We repair phones, tablets, laptops and consoles, right down to
board-level soldering.
WHAT YOU'D ACTUALLY DO
You'd own the front of the store:
- Greeting customers and figuring out what's wrong with their device
- Quoting repairs from our standard pricing
- Writing up tickets and taking payments
- Applying screen protectors and selling accessories
- Helping customers with phone upgrades, activations and protection plans
You'd be the first person every customer meets, and a big part of why
they come back.
Alongside that, we start teaching you repairs. Screen protectors and
small parts first, then screen replacements, then full phone repair. How
fast you move up is genuinely up to you.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You're good with people — you can read a frustrated customer and calm
them down
- You learn fast and ask questions instead of guessing
- You're honest, especially when something goes wrong
- You show up when you say you will
No repair experience needed. If you've worked retail, food service, a
phone store or a front desk, you already have the hard part.
THE HONEST VERSION
This starts at entry-level pay, with commission on activations and
protection plans on top. You'll work evenings and weekends. You'll be on
your feet. Some customers are having a bad day and you're the one
standing in front of them.
What you get in return is a real skill, paid for while you learn it, in
a trade that isn't going anywhere.
PAY AND HOURS
$18.25 – $21.00 per hour to start, depending on experience, plus
commission on activations and protection plans. Raises are tied to the
repair skills you pick up.
Full-time. Evening and weekend availability required.
