Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team at Niagara Orthopaedic Institute. As a PTA, you will work closely with our physiotherapists and healthcare professionals to provide support and assist in delivering high-quality rehabilitation services to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist physiotherapists in implementing treatment plans and therapeutic exercises for patients.
- Prepare treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions.
- Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to patients during exercises and rehabilitation activities
- Monitor and record patient progress and responses to treatment under the direction of physiotherapists
- Educate patients on proper exercise techniques, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and equipment
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
- Follow all clinic policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Complete front desk training and provide administrative support when required, including patient check-in/check-out, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and other reception duties.
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant program or relevant certification
- Previous experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant or in a similar role is preferred, but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor with a genuine desire to help others
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team; capable of mentoring, leading, and learning
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic principles
