Job Summary
- We are seeking a Senior Advisor – Credit Risk to support credit risk analysis, portfolio management, credit monitoring, reporting, and credit risk projects. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Units, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Legal, insurers, brokers, and other risk teams to identify and mitigate credit risks while supporting commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Analysis & Portfolio Management
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data on new and existing counterparties to determine and recommend credit ratings, credit limits, payment terms, and credit solutions.
- Manage assigned counterparty portfolios, including credit reviews, exposure queries, limit availability checks, onboarding requests, credit block releases, and credit alerts.
- Manage counterparty relationships in collaboration with Business Units/Project Groups, including onboarding, non-payment/default situations, and other credit-related events.
- Assess complex transactions with Business Units/Project Groups and cross-functional teams to develop appropriate credit solutions and establish proper credit rights and contractual terms.
- Liaise with credit insurers, brokers, Legal, Finance, and other risk teams to implement credit management measures, including security arrangements, payment terms, credit rights, and triggers.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing teams to develop solutions that enhance sales value through term extensions while identifying and mitigating associated risks.
- Support and advise the Commercial organization on strategic and operational initiatives to achieve cash targets, enhance margins, and improve process efficiency.
Credit Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor the assigned portfolio daily using available tools, resources, and market intelligence.
- Identify and promptly communicate adverse credit news and provide early risk alerts regarding potential credit events.
- Maintain close communication with Business Units/Project Groups to understand portfolio risk factors, industries, and counterparties.
- Monitor adherence to credit limits and report credit control breaches.
- Prepare, review, and validate credit management reports, including sales forecasts, credit exposure, accounts receivable aging, and excess monitoring reports.
- Ensure credit processes comply with applicable governance frameworks and that appropriate documentation and reporting processes are maintained.
- Prepare presentations for credit committees and develop insightful analytics and tools to support business decisions.
Credit Risk Systems & Projects
- Utilize credit risk and accounting systems for credit risk management and administration, including SAP and S&P Capital IQ (CIQ).
- Lead and drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of credit-related processes.
- Initiate and participate in credit risk system enhancements and reporting initiatives, including credit dashboards and excess reporting.
- Participate in or lead cross-functional, Business Unit, and Project Group projects as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification such as MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Credit Risk or Financial Analysis, preferably within a commodity trading or metals & mining environment.
- Working knowledge of:
- Trade finance solutions
- Trade credit insurance
- Parent/corporate guarantees
- Strong portfolio management, analytical, quantitative, and financial
