A key member of the Human Resources leadership team, the Manager of Learning and Development provides high level consultation to university leaders in response to organizational development needs, and is responsible for leading overall professional development and learning opportunities for faculty and staff. Reporting to the Director, Talent Management, the Manager, Learning and Development oversees the design, development and implementation of leadership programming for academic and administrative leaders. Supporting faculties and units with performance and career development planning is a key activity contributing to employee growth and succession planning. With a priority to foster a collegial culture grounded in respect and inclusion, the Manager partners with university colleagues in the delivery of learning opportunities that support equity, diversity and inclusiveness across the university.

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor learning and development needs of a large and diverse population through accepted needs assessment methods.
Manage learning and development programming that aligns with university and Human Resources strategic priorities, employing a holistic view of learning that includes online, self-directed, and on-the-job learning, stretch assignments, secondments, etc.
Collaborate with colleagues in Human Rights and Equity Services, the Centre for Learning and Teaching, and others to develop and deliver programming related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Lead, support, and partner with senior academic and administrative leaders in designing and implementing a university-wide leadership development program.
Manage program implementation, including contracting with external consultants, administration of budget, development of marketing materials, and oversight of logistics and registration.
Develop, promote and support performance and career development tools and best practices for staff and faculty; Conduct on-going program evaluation to identify areas for continuous improvement.
Perform other operational management duties including: co-supervision of Administrative Assistant, budget management, and administration of the tuition reimbursement program.
Qualifications: Master degree in a relevant field and continuing studies in adult education is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Considerable related experience in a complex, diverse and decentralized organization, including experience in designing, implementing and managing learning and development programs. Programming experience in leadership development strongly preferred. Exceptional consultation, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills required. Must be adept at networking and fostering relationships at all levels within an organization. Experience in an HR role or good understanding of the HR function is preferred. Knowledge of performance and career development best practices an asset. Related Adult Education/HR designation/certifications considered a definite asset.
