Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at South Campus, Edmonton.
Reporting to the Manager, Campus & Community Recreation (CCR), South Campus, the Curling Supervisor is an integral member of the South Campus team. Campus & Community Recreation supports the management of sport and recreation facilities, programs, services and events serving a variety of communities including University of Alberta students, staff, Faculty and general community members. Campus & Community Recreation also supports the facility and service needs of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation and the Varsity Athletics programs through the provision of dedicated sport and recreation space for teaching, research, training and competition.
The Curling Supervisor provides day-to-day operational oversight and supervision of the Curling department within Campus & Community Recreation at the University of Alberta. The Curling Supervisor participates in the development and activation of the Campus & Community Recreation overarching goals and assists team members in understanding the linkage between their day-to-day activities and the overarching goals of the organization.
The Curling Supervisor will supervise the day-to-day activities of the Curling Department in an efficient and effective manner. A major focus of this position will be the development, organization and administration of all curling leagues, memberships, bookings, events, funspiels, practice ice, school field trips, and adult programming offered at the Saville Community Sports Centre - East.
The Campus Operations & Services team supports the University of Alberta through a range of essential services and works for operating, maintaining and renewing infrastructure across our campuses.

Manages the day-to-day operations and registration processes for the curling leagues, instructional programs and events.

Ensures that all curling leagues, practices, instruction, events and maintenance requirements are properly reflected in Recreation Management Software System (RMS) at all times.

Develops draws and schedules for all events, curling leagues, and ensures that standings are updated in a timely manner.

Coordinate and oversee all curling events (8-12 annually) hosted at the Saville Community Sports Centre. Each event will incorporate 60-120 athletes.

Ensures that the contact information for members and spares, along with draws and standings for all leagues, are properly loaded into the curling webpage.

Promotes events and programs by developing and distributing promotional materials and sending out targeted e-mails to prospective customers.

Coordinates a annual survey and registration mail-outs to all regular league members.

Responsible for the recruitment, orientation, training, and coaching of staff; prioritizes and assigns work; conducts performance evaluations and supports performance management for recreation instructional leagues and programs.

Ensures the administrative aspects of hiring of all curling staff including contracts and invoice submission is accurately and efficiently processed.

Supports the development of the Saville curling budget and prepares budget submissions for review by the Manager.

Assists in forecasting and allocating anticipated expenses and revenues within the annual budget framework.

Develops and trains staff on appropriate risk management procedures including Emergency Response Plans associated with curling facility, leagues, and programming.

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or Sport Facility Management required.

Current Intermediate First Aid and Level “C” CPR certification required every 2 years.

Minimum 5 years/experience in curling facility and event operation with demonstrated
increasing responsibility, accountability, and staff supervision. -
Knowledge in Health, Safety, and Risk Management in sport and recreation facilities & programs.

Experience with Intelligenz Recreation Management Software, Google Apps and Microsoft Office is an asset.

Experience in programming and/or instructing various sports, fitness and/or recreation activities preferred.

Experience with budget and equipment purchasing preferred.
-
Customer service and problem solving experience preferred.

Experience working with National and Provincial Sport Organizations is an asset.

Knowledge of Asset Planner is an asset.

Completion of Supervisor Safety – A Culture of Care Training - required upon hiring.

Health, Safety and Environment Supervisory Development training required upon hiring.
