The Community Services Department requires various Aquatic Leadership Conductors (including First Aid Instructors, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiners and Instructor Trainers and Bronze Examiners) for the Courtice Community Complex, Diane Hamre Recreation Complex and Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre.

Planning, organizing, and implementing high quality course according to the Lifesaving Society and Municipality of Clarington’s expectations.

Ensuring the health and safety of registered candidates throughout the duration of the course.

Performing all administrative duties and following acceptable procedures as outlined by the Lifesaving Society and the Municipality of Clarington.

Demonstrating strong internal and external customer service skills.

Demonstrating strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise sound judgement.

Performing other duties as assigned, including those specific to the department.
Minimum Qualifications for First Aid Instructor/Examiner positions are:

Current Standard First Aid with CPR Level ‘C’ or Intermediate First Aid with CPR C/AED

Rate of pay:

$28.10 per hour (2026 rate) for First Aid Instructor positions.

$40.61 per hour (2026 rate) for National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiners and Instructor Trainer positions.

$25.42 per hour (2026 rate) for Bronze Examiners
-
Training Rate is $18.52 per hour (2026 rate)
Hours of work: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week including evenings, weekends and holidays.
A satisfactory criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.
Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments.
Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada
