ABOUT THE POSITION
Advanced Pump Repair, a division of Summit Water, is seeking an experienced and motivated Shop Foreman to lead daily operations within our pump repair facility. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for directing shop-floor activities, coordinating repair priorities, troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining workflow efficiency, and promoting a strong culture of safety and quality.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical experience with rotating equipment, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing repair operations in an industrial environment.
Shop Leadership & Coordination
- Direct and oversee daily shop-floor activities to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Assign work and establish priorities based on customer commitments, workload, and available resources.
- Coordinate workflow between technicians, welders, machinists, and support personnel.
- Monitor repair progress and proactively address bottlenecks or delays.
- Lead daily toolbox talks, production meetings, and safety discussions.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout pump inspection, repair, assembly, and testing processes.
- Assist technicians in diagnosing complex mechanical issues and determining appropriate repair solutions.
- Review repair scopes and ensure work is completed to company and industry standards.
- Verify repair quality prior to final testing and shipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to repair methods, tooling, and shop processes.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular shop inspections and identify opportunities for hazard reduction.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, lifting equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
Quality & Productivity
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control throughout the repair process.
- Monitor productivity, labour utilization, and shop performance metrics.
- Ensure repair documentation, inspection reports, and work orders are completed accurately.
- Support inventory control and ensure critical parts and consumables are available.
- Promote a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to shop personnel.
- Assist with training and development of technicians and apprentices.
- Participate in performance evaluations and employee development planning.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pump repair, rotating equipment repair, or industrial maintenance.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a shop or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and repair procedures.
- Working knowledge of shop equipment, machining processes, and repair best practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized work order systems.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Machinist, or related trade certification.
- Experience with centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, mixers, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
- Health and Safety training or certification.
- Experience with quality management systems and repair documentation.

Pay: $31.00-$45.00 per hour
