I.T. Application Specialist - Bilingual (French/English)

We are looking for a full-time, temporary Bilingual Application Specialist to join our I.T. Department

Position: I.T. Application Specialist – Bilingual (French and English)

Status: Full-time, Temporary (12 months)

Location: Oshawa Head Office, 419 King Street West, Oshawa, ON L1J 2K5

Role Summary:

The I.T. Application Specialist provides excellent customer service through first level technical assistance. This role supports users by answering queries on basic technical issues and offers advice to solve them.


· Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone, email or ticket system

· Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions

· Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers

· Walk the customer through the problem-solving process

· Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel

· Provide accurate information on IT products or services

· Record events and problems and their resolution in logs

· Follow-up and update customer status and information

· Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team

Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures


· Completed post-secondary education from a recognized Canadian Institute or its equivalent

· Diploma in IT, Computer Science or relevant field


· Minimum 2 years proven experience in a help desk technician/I.T. Application Specialist position

· Customer Service experience

Required Skills:

· Bilingual in French and English is required

· Project management skills an asset

· Tech savvy with working knowledge of MS user Products

· Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products

· Experienced with MS server management

· Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues

· Excellent communication skills

· Customer-oriented and cool-tempered


  • Strong understanding of computer networks, hardware, and office equipment
  • General office procedures
  • Use of office equipment including multi-line telephone systems

Hours and Duration:

40 hours per week, subject to change. Temporary 12 months

Hours of Operation:

8-hour shifts during hours of operation: Monday to Friday 6:30am - 8:00pm


  • May be required to travel within or outside of regular working hours to meetings and community events, training, seminars, or to work in other locations
  • Use of personal auto is required. Mileage is compensated. Valid driver’s license is required; supplemental business insurance may be required

Hourly Rate: I.T. Application Specialist payscale applies
