Position Summary
Review and assess client properties for tax savings opportunities, develop valuation arguments, and prepare client reports. In addition, the Tax Manager researches and maintains knowledge of tax and assessment laws to successfully represent clients at assessment review board hearings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews client records for Property tax refund potential, credits, deficiency assessments, and procedural recommendations
- Prepares and submits written reports supporting DMA’s position for assessment and taxing authorities; reviews and submits periodic status reports to clients; prepares Letters of Findings for clients
- Responsible for client account management on assigned clients
- Updates work-in-process reports
- Conducts on-site inspection of client plants and operations
- Maintains knowledge of Property tax laws, regulations, and court decisions
- Represents clients during negotiations and in hearings with assessment and taxing authorities
- Works with assessment and tax officials to achieve maximum tax savings
- Assist Director National Accounts and other business development professionals in scoping and developing customized solutions for new and prospective clients

Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required
- 5-7 years’ prior experience in property assessment valuation methodologies (including ACS costing, income approach and comparative sales analysis) with specific experience in commercial/industrial properties
- AIMA designation preferred and MIMA designation or equivalent appraisal experience desired
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Valid Class P1 Driver’s license is required
- Self-starter who can function independently and in a team environment
- Some overnight travel may be required
