Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, including data entry, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger reconciliation. this role will need you to reconcile to supplier statements and general ledgers to prepare cheques for payment when due; to process and commission vehicle deals from the Sales Department.

Responsibilities
1) Post Used Vehicle deals into accounting software
2) Assist with posting of New Vehicle deals as required
3) Reconcile Manufacturer statement and apply for any eligible rebates
4) Calculate Sales commissions on each deal and reconcile to Sales Manager Log
5) Post accounts payable invoices as received into accounting software
6) Analyze monthly accounts payable report against actual statements
7) Reconcile and pay verified accounts
8) Instigate the necessary action to ratify outstanding balances
9) Prepare cheques as required
10) Match purchase orders to invoices
11) Ensure payment is made promptly to qualify for any applicable discounts
12) Assist in preparation of bank deposits as required
13) Assist with Accounts Receivable as required, reconcile payment upon receipt
14) Reconcile other accounts such as business credit card, government remittances
15) Clean accounting schedules on a monthly basis
16) Maintain spreadsheets and provide monthly reports to Management
17) Perform other related duties

1) Level of Education: Grade 12
2) Experience required: 3+ years of Car Dealership Accounting experience
3) Qualifications: Working exposure to: Excel and Dealership accounting software such as PBS
Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts
- Experience with various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or UltiPro is preferred
- Familiarity with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus
- Ability to perform detailed data entry (including 10 key typing) accurately and efficiently
- Proficiency in account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks
- Basic math skills necessary for account analysis and credit assessments
- Knowledge of tax procedures related to payroll or corporate taxes is advantageous
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
