JOB OVERVIEW
The HR Advisor will be responsible for providing support and guidance to managers and employees on a range of HR issues. This role is suitable for someone who is passionate about HR and has excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This role reports directly to Director, Human Resources at the Corporate Head Office in Winnipeg.
Essential Functions:
Employee Relations/Labor Relations
- Act as first point of contact for resolving employee complaints by helping gather the relevant information and discuss with Corporate HR Director specific actions to take
- Provide counselling, guidance and support to employees in resolving issues
- Assist in conducting workplace investigations and implementing Progressive Discipline Policy including assisting in drafting disciplinary action and termination letters, in consultation with Corporate HR Director
- Help improve the onboarding package for all East Companies; collaborate with the Terminal Managers/Administration Managers
- Partner with managers, Corporate HR and Payroll teams in the employee’s offboarding process
Process Excellence
- Design process flows and develop policies; help in the cascade and implementation
- Conduct assessment and evaluation of existing HR processes in the East to identify opportunities to standardize, simplify and optimise processes
- Collaborate with Corporate HR to implement process changes and ensure successful adoption by employees
- Work on developing, standardizing and compiling job descriptions for all of the East companies
Organization Development
- Support the development and implementation of organization development initiatives and projects in partnership with the Corporate HR Director
HRIS/HR Systems
- Collaborate with the Project Lead/Systems Specialist in implementing Dayforce projects i.e. WFM, Onboarding, Document Management
Compliance
- Collaborate with Corporate HR Director in collecting information for any compliance activities – Employment Equity, Pay Equity Reporting, Accessibility Plan etc.
- Keep abreast with any legislative requirements – provincial and federal
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Post secondary education in Business Administration or Human Resource Management
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in advisory role with demonstrated experience in Employee Relations/Labor Relations
- Expert knowledge in computer applications with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong experience in letter writing and policy development
- Ability to travel occasionally to the many company locations throughout Ontario and Quebec
